Our social work encompasses various activities across two dimensions. We provide immediate assistance to people in emergency situations—medical treatment, solar systems, food rations, flood relief, and support for orphans and vulnerable families. We also undertake long-term projects including water systems, mosque and madrasa construction, and community infrastructure that benefits entire villages. Through our employment schemes, we empower individuals with skills, business support, and favorable loans to achieve self-sufficiency.
Up to now, we have completed 43 water projects at various locations in Chitral. At present, we are working on 4 more water projects, and this is an ongoing process, as villages are facing severe water shortages and women are compelled to carry drinking water on their heads over long distances.
The chart below lists the areas along with the corresponding number of projects we have accomplished so far.

We ensured the treatment of 72 individuals who were unable to seek medical care themselves and were in a state of extreme desperation, waiting for death. It is always a dire situation when a loved one—especially the sole breadwinner of a family—lies on the deathbed while everyone around is helpless to take him to the hospital. There are children who once bloomed like roses but are now pale with chronic diseases. Their days are numbered if someone does not take care of them.

Chitral is counted among the areas most affected by natural disasters. Floods wash away lives and livelihoods, leaving people displaced, homeless, and living under the open sky.
Upper Hand Organization does not sit idle when natural disasters wreak havoc. In 2022, when Chitral was badly affected by floods, we were on the spot aiding the victims. Over 20 million rupees’ worth of rations, bedding, and cash were distributed among those affected. Similarly, last year, when Golen—a remote area of Chitral—was hit and entire villages were washed away, we presented our services and extended help to the people.
Upper Hand Organization’s services are not limited to Chitral. Recently, in 2025, when the northern areas were devastated, we were in Buner—which was hit hardest—from day one. Initially, we reached there as a first aid team, and then the organization embarked on the rehabilitation process, building homes for those left with nothing but piles of rubble.
Here is a list of our collaborations with flood victims in Chitral. This list is limited to Chitral only and includes projects completed before 2024.

Our employment scheme aims to help people become self-sufficient by providing equipment, skill training, and business support. So far, we have supported 20+ individuals through startups, skill development programs, and job placements. We believe in teaching people to “fish” rather than just providing fish—enabling long-term independence.
We have built homes for 44 deserving homeless individuals across various areas. Whether rendered homeless by natural disasters or born into poverty without shelter, we strive to provide dignified housing. Every home represents renewed hope and stability for a family.
